Any good jobs for a computer/video game type person?

So I am seventeen and looking for a job that I will enjoy and have some expertise with. I love video games and know a lot with computers and technology. I'm sort of the quiet type but I think that if it comes to those two topics I would know what I'm doing. Some of the jobs I have in mind are working at a video game store, computer store, or bookstore so far. The thing is that most stores want people who are older, like eighteen. Can I get a job at one of those places being seventeen or do I have to wait a year?

Policies will vary by individual store. Some will require you to be 18, others you can get at 17. As a general rule, most of the large national chains of electronics/video game stores (Best Buy, Fry's, CompUSA, EBGames, etc.) are going to require you to be 18 years old. Alternatively, you could try to get a job in the electronics department at a large "discount" style retailer such as Wal Mart or Target. Somebody suggeted Radio Shack- I believe they require you to be 18 too, but check it out. A lot of bookstores also have the 18 rule (I know Barnes and Noble does, I think Borders/Waldenbooks/B. Dalton does too); look more for small, mom-and-pop bookstores and you'll have better luck.

Once you turn 18 and get a college degree (if that's in your plans) a whole series of options will open up. You could go the retailer route, or you could move toward the assembly, management, or programming/testing aspects of computer technology.
