That's how I practiced. You want to keep the same form on your jump shot whether from 5 to 15 to 24 ft away from the basket. I would start close... around 8 feet. Then I would move back three steps for every two consecutive shots I made. When you are able to start hitting them I add and extra shot. So two consecutive shots, then three, then four and so on.

Your form should stay the same and the only difference is strength. The strength you need to hit further shots comes from your wrist, arms and abdomen. The power and lift come from you hips, thighs and calves. The key is to use one fluid motion in your shot and to stay balanced and squared up to the rim.
