What is a Full Body Box Camera CCTV? Compare Security Cameras.

There are many types of cameras frames and bodies like full body, indoor, outdoor, dome, pan tilt zoom PTZ, bullet, underwater which refer to the style, frame or body. In this article I will talk about full body frames.

The full body box style frames are very common and very flexible as the box and full body holds the guts and brains. Inside the guts is a topic for another day as we will cover wide dynamic, 1/4 inch or 1/3 or 1/2 inch CCD being the main processor guts. For now I will talk generally about the benefits of this full body frame.

Let's bring it back to main stream digital cameras used by most people. Many if not most people use a slim personal instant style with built in lens and flash. The professionals use big chunky types called SLR cameras and they can swap lenses add a big flash etc.

Well a full body security camera is like an SLR as the frame is the key to success, it does not try to be everything with 1 lens, rather you have the main guts and then you customise the lense to suit. If you want a very wide angle, you add a wide angle lens, if you want to zoom really close then you use a zoom or telescopic lens, if you want flexibility you add a vari-focal lens and the most common used in probably the 2.8-12mm varifocal with auto iris lens.

Fixed lens cameras are great as they suit the main stream, but a full body security CCTV camera will give you more control to select the best lens for the area you want to see. After all a great camera with an average lens is not much good, but an average camera with a great lens will be better. Ideally you want a great camera and great lens and then just put it in an external weather resistant housing if it is to be used outside.

ps: don't be fooled by the term weather or vandal proof housing or camera as I don't believe anything can be completely proofed so i like to use the term resistant.

Need to change th PTZ and other contorls,
View and store straming video etc
I'll be develioping this using java and jsp. So any api compatiable with java is ok for me.
