detect motion, archive on win xp, USB2 and Logitech PTZ Sphere webcam software.?

I am a 66 years old victim of previous unauthorised entries and am worried sick. My USB PTZ Logitech Sphere camera takes pictures. I do not have software to automatically take pictures on detected motion and record as proof on my Dell's hard disk.
Need a standard WebCam software to detect motion, archive on Win XP MCE Edition Dell computer.
Tried various gimmicky products from internet based on "Detect motion, record, PTZ Logitec Sphere and software. Most would web stream on hotmail but not record on hard disk.
Please help me.
